Medical marijuana certifications expire after a year in Pennsylvania

The state will send an email notification 60 days before your patient certification and ID card expire. You must renew your registration through the Medical Marijuana Registry, and then get your patient certification through the HelloMD medical practitioner. Once youโ€™re certified by the medical practitioner, a new card will be mailed to you at the address you listed in the patient portal. The card will have an issue date for the day after your original card expires.

Once youโ€™ve received your medical cannabis card, you can purchase medical marijuana from a licensed dispensary. In Pennsylvania, medical marijuana patients are allowed to buy up to a 30-day supply of their medication. As a patient you can refill your supply during the last seven days of the 30-day period. If you have more than a 30-day supply amount, you are breaking the law.

If you have a medical marijuana card, you can buy a 30-day supply of cannabis flower, creams, gels, liquids, oils, ointments, pills, or tinctures.

The dosage is determined by a dispensary pharmacist, and patients may receive up to a 30-day supply at a time.

You can only buy and possess marijuana legally in Pennsylvania if you have a medical marijuana card.
