Q&A

Do you have recommendations for radiation and chemo patients?

"My father has recently been diagnosed with Colon cancer and will be doing 5 1/2 weeks of radiation and chemo before surgery. I am hoping to help him find products/ strains that will help ease the pain and negative side effects as well as possibly support his treatment. I would love any suggestions or links to research or articles about this area. Thank you. "

Our doctors may make recommendations for patients who are undergoing chemo and radiation therapy. I would recommend speaking to one of our doctors.

There are many variables in choosing the best preparation for a patient in your father’s situation. Without knowing his previous experience with cannabis, his associated medical problems and history, medications, and various other factors, I’d suggest looking into inhalable and orally absorbed preparations with a CBD:THC ratio of 1:1 as a start. If your father is experienced with cannabis you might try a somewhat more THC-rich preparation, but the presence of sufficient CBD is important to balance the THC effect. For patients experiencing nausea as a side effect of chemotherapy there are mouth sprays and lozenges that are sometimes useful, if inhaling is not a plausible route of administration. I hope you find a helpful regimen.
